Forum on the International Dimension of the European Year of Cultural Heritage (EYCH) 2018

The Cultural Diplomacy Platform, Brussels, 23.3.2018
The Cultural Diplomacy Platform is pleased to invite you to the Forum on the International Dimension of the European Year of Cultural Heritage (EYCH) 2018 that will look at the main themes of the 2018 EYCH from different international perspectives. The Forum will take place on Monday, 23 April 2018, in Palais des Académies (Rue Ducale 1), Brussels, from 9h45 to 17h30 (registration will start at 8h45).

Reinforcing cooperation on cultural heritage is one of the three main strands under the second pillar of the EU's strategic approach to international cultural relations, focused on advancing cultural cooperation with partner countries. Furthermore, cooperation in this field plays an important role in development policies as outlined in the Commission Communication Towards an integrated approach to cultural heritage for Europe. Culture, including cultural heritage and creative industries, is an important sector promoted as part of the EU's consensus on development cooperation and the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The global cultural landscape has changed rapidly over the last few decades and demand for inter-cultural cooperation and dialogue has increased. In order to take forward the concrete proposals of these policy developments, the Forum will be a unique opportunity for an exchange of knowledge, expertise and latest cultural heritage approaches and strategies, among internationally renowned high-level speakers and experts.

Three panel sessions will address:

  • Protection of cultural heritage at risk,
  • Engagement and participatory governance of cultural heritage and
  • Innovation in cultural heritage - collaborative partnerships, funding models and social innovation.

Registration is open! Deadline for registration: 15 April 2018.

A detailed programme will be provided in the coming weeks.
